Gold Dredge Hand Pump Review: A Mixed Bag of Performance

As an avid gold prospector, I recently had the chance to test out a gold dredge hand pump and share my thoughts on its performance. While it showed promise in certain aspects, I was ultimately left feeling disappointed with its overall output.

I expected the bucket to fill up quickly, perhaps within 10-20 pumps. However, after an hour of pumping, I had to cut my losses and switch to my trusty shovel. The custom nozzles seemed to get stuck with rocks every 10 seconds, requiring me to dump out the water and restart the process. Even then, I rarely got more than a third full bucket.

One of the main issues I faced was the lack of material extraction. Despite pumping from an area with plenty of dirt and small gravel, it seemed like only water was making its way through the hose. This led to a disappointing amount of gold being collected, which is what ultimately drove me to abandon the pump.

The design of the BGT, 5g bucket, Pump, and Shovel combo also left something to be desired. While I appreciate the compact size of the bucket and accessories, it would greatly benefit from a handle for easier transport. The lid doesn't fit properly on the bucket either, but tossing the pump inside my larger 5g bucket isn't a huge issue.

The hose can be wound up to fit neatly in the small bucket with the accessories, which is handy. However, I think the pump itself could use some significant improvements. Specifically, it would benefit from a handle or grip on the base of the pump to provide more effective pumping action. As it stands, handling the pump around its circumference can be quite awkward.

While I'm sure some of my struggles were user error, I was unable to achieve the material extraction I had hoped for with this gold dredge hand pump. Despite its potential, I would not recommend this product without significant design and functionality overhauls.
